Update on Wal-Mart Coupon Policy

Update: Last week I tried to use a $4/20 CVS coupon and it was a no go after a long discussion. I made a call to customer service and she was to direct the information to the right person. Today, I talked to the "right person" who at the end of the call said I obviously knew more about coupons than she did and she would look for more clarification.

I asked for something in writing that explained the policy and she said they are only given what is posted online. No written explanation of the term "store coupon". So as of now, I've had both local store and customer service tell me that they only except "store coupons" for a specific item that is reimbursed by the manufacturer. You and I both know there is a difference and how the process works for the most part and I find this is where the frustration is. If they only accept manufacturer then that is fine, but please don't list those separately as store coupons and get everyone on the same page because email customer service is saying something different.

If you have been able to use the Rite-Aid, CVS, Kohl's or Walgreens coupons at Wal-Mart will you please let me know so I have that information for my next conversation with Wal-Mart?

Competitor Coupons at Wal*Mart!

I wanted to share this with you. I found out yesterday from another blogger that Wal-Mart accepts competitor coupons. WooHoo! I wanted to make sure it was company wide so I went to their site to read the new policy which states they accept store coupons. It didn't specify exactly what was meant by that and I didn't want to leave it up to the store manager's interpretation so I sent an email with an example to clarify my question. Today I receive a response that I want to share with you. You are welcomed to copy it and take it along or if you have a tricky store you might request your own.

Thank you for your message.

Dear SavenMaven,

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the acceptance of coupons at
Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons:

- manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
- free merchandise (or manufacturer's Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons

- store coupons (which come from specific store chains such as CVS, Kohls, etc)
- internet coupons

-
soft drink container caps

The following are guidelines and limits:
Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase. Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons or double/triple coupons. Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon_ and there should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and scannable bar code. For 'Free' merchandise coupons, customers will not receive cash back -- the cashier will adjust the value of the coupon to the actual retail of the item at the time of sale. In addition, only one coupon per item is permitted and use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by a Customer Service Manager. Sincerely, Walmart Customer Care For further correspondence regarding this issue, please reply to this email.

----Your Original Comments Were----
Your coupon policy states you accept store coupons. Does this include competing stores too? e.g. Rite-Aid $5 off $25 transaction Thank you for your time and clarification. Sincerely,SavenMaven

Giant Eagle/Wal-Mart/Sugarvalley Meats & CVS

I left the receipt with my coupon notebook in the van which isn't here now, so no details except a I saved around 55% and my final total was around $40.

Wal-Mart we won't even talk about; no cherry picking there or coupons used. (!) Also went out to Sugarcreek for meat and also spent about $40 there for 10lbs of ground chuck @$2.79/lb and a 2.5lb@ roast $3.79/lb.

Quick run into CVS to scan my card and then get my free Myoplex Bar; coupon arrived today. I also picked up a couple of Crests using $3.99ECBs, (2) $1 MQs and $.12 OOP getting back $4 ECBs. I thought I would get back two for the Myoplex, but I misunderstood the deal and need three more which I won't bother doing; one free is great.

The experience was not good again to say the least. They are just sooooooo unpleasant and even condescending in that store. Last night I went for my SIL and yikes! Part of me is very disgusted with the customer service and the other part of me feels sorry for those souls that must be so miserable. I'm am thankful Dover store is not my only option or I honestly might not CVS.
